Prior to opening his own practice, Dr. Carlson was Director of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat) at the Thomas-Davis Medical Center in Tucson, where he diagnosed and managed treatment plans for more than 30,000 patients in 7 years.

In 2001, he founded Carlson Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates. Throughout his medical career, he has constantly sought out and completed medical courses to keep current with the latest techniques, equipment, and treatments including Care of the Professional Voice at the Julliard School and advanced ear surgery at the House Ear Institute. While with the University of Connecticut's Division of Otolaryngology, he received three prestigious research grants focusing on his medical specialty and published several important papers in connection with his research.

He currently serves as Attending Surgeon at Northwest Medical Center in Oro Valley, University Medical Center and Camp Lowell Surgery Center. 

Dr. Carlson currently accepts patients with concerns related to the ear, nose and throat.  He is particularly interested in balance/vestibular disorders and treatment.
